*********************** * About siseq.tk * *********************** Siseq.tk is a Tcl/Tk script that enables use of the siseq tools with a simple GUI (guided user interface), which works on UNIX and Windows. Originally, I planned to make a GUI-free command sets for manipulating genomic sequences. But, GUI must be also useful for new users of the package. In Windows or DOS environment, the command line is not quite user-friendly, because back-scroll is not possible. In this case, this GUI provides a good interface for command input. The script uses the "grid" command, which was introduced into Tk since Tcl7.6/Tk4.2. This script has been tested with Tcl7.6/Tk4.2 up to Tcl8.2/Tk8.2 on the following platforms: Windows95: DOS/V, PC9821 UNIX: Linux, Sun (Solaris 2.6), Silicon Graphics (O2) This script is still a beta version. I have not fully tested its function with its all possible options with various different input files. In some cases, due to problems of database, the program produces a warning message. Even in these cases, the output is normally produced, except that the last part of the file was not correctly processed. This happens with a circular DNA. This script assumes that the Tcl/Tk and the Siseq packages have been installed correctly and the path is correctly set to the directories in which reside respective binaries. In Windows95 environment, this can be accomplished using a batch file describing paths. See the siseq.bat file included in this package.
